Christmas 2012

Kiana had a great Christmas this year. She got to spend time with her Aunt Rachael and uncle Noah as well as Uncles Eddie and Zach. She also got lots of presents this year. She got an Ice Age puzzle, hungry, hungry hippo game, a couple new trains from chuggington, and a laundry matching game from Kelli. She also got a Cars Guitar. Over all she had a great Christmas and loves playing with her new toys. She also loved getting new books for her tag system which reads to her.

My Monkey

Kiana is doing great, we have discovered that she is missing her corpus colosseum, but it really doesn't seem to be affecting her to much. The developmental pediatrician wants her to see a geneticist as well as a speech/language therapist. In other news Kiana loves to sing and can remember a song that she listens to forever, for example she hasn't heard the song Tomorrow from Annie is like almost a year and she sings it every day on the bus coming home. she loves to play with her blocks and doll house, even though currently we don't have the furniture for her doll house at the moment.

It's been awhile

Sorry it's been so long since I've updated Kiana's blog.

Kiana is doing great. She loves going to school and riding the school bus. Kiana loves playing with the dogs especially Louie our little pit puppy. We are still working on getting her potty trained, but we'll get it eventually. Kiana is an amazing girl and i love being her mom. The 24th of this month we have an appointment with a developmental pediatrician so we will see what he says and what he thinks will work to get her potty trained.

T-Ball

Saterday was Kiana's last T-ball game. She had a lot of fun this season although she spent more time climbing the backstops and fences than she did playing actual t-ball, but its ok as long as she had fun doing something right. i'll post pics as soon as i can

No More School!!

Kiana is done with school as of tomorrow. She has grown so much over the last year of school. she is talking more and more. She is also talking more clearly now. She loves to sing her favorites are: itsy bitsy spider, tomorrow,it's raining, old mcdonald, and twinkle twinkle. She also loves trying to do puzzles and to color. Next year she will be attending Sunderland Elementary school in an inclusive pre-school, which means that she will be in a class with special needs and "normal" peers. We are still trying to get her to use the potty, but she keeps insisting on wearing a diaper at home and refuses to sit on the potty unless it's right in front of the t.v.

my lil monkey

Kiana is still quite the little monkey. She still isn't potty trained and she's almost 5. it is so fustrating and irratating that she won't tell us that she has to go potty. Her last day of school is Tuesday so i'll start working more on it then, maybe it will be easier. I am tired of having to buy diapers for her and she's out growing them. other than that Kiana is doing well. She loves putting together puzzles and playing with her uncle zachary.

to potty train or not to potty train that is the question

Actually it's not much of a question at all. i know that she needs to be potty trained, but we have brand new carpet in the trailer we're renting and not really too keen on having her pee all over the floor....I also don't particularly like having her potty in the middle of the living room either. we are working on it though and she does really well at school but they have the time and patients to take her to the potty every 30 mins.

finally an update on my lil monkey

ok, so i know a lot of you have been wondering what's been going on with Kiana. The 26 of march Kiana went in for her 1st MRI. we left here after we took Aelita to school at 8:40am and stopped at k-mart to get her some things to do while we waited as well as a popcicle and then stopped at walmart to get some jello and another popcicle. we got to children's national in Washinton D.C, around 10am with the intention of visiting some of the sites but mom was starving so we went ahead to the hospital and got mommy some thing to eat and
Kiana another popcicle since that was all she could eat until noon. After we ate we went to neurology and waited for about an hour and then we went back for the nurses to check her vitals, find out when she last ate and so on and so forth. then came the hardest part of the whole process...I had to walk her to the room where they would sedate her and start her i.v. After they had her sedated i had to leave and wait and wait for what seemed like forever. I was finally able to go back to her at around 3:30 after she was done with the MRI were i fell asleep waiting for her to wake up. She woke up around 4:30 it took about 2 more hours for me to be able to get her to drank water or apple juice so that the nurse could take out her i.v and we could go home. so after that was all said and done we had to wait almost a month before we got the results for the MRI and basicly it said that her brain is smaller than it should be, the corpus collusum is smaller than it should be, some of her brain cells went to the wrong part of her brain and she has a hypothamic lesion, there were also a few other things but i can't remember them all right now. Kiana has another Neurology appt July 9th so that the doctor can explain exactly what all that means for her future.
Kiana is also playing T-ball and it's quite intertaining to watch. She likes hitting the ball but doesn't like to run the bases in the order that she's supposed to, and she doesn't particulary like to play on the feild. Kiana has made so much progress in her ISLE(intense structured learning environment) class and next year she will be attending a special education pre-k at either patuxent elementary or sunderland elementary, both of which are about 20/30 mins away from where we live. Kiana also loves to climb on everything, no matter what it might be or if she might get herself hurt. she is such a great girl and is such a joy to have around most of the time.

Doc appts

I'm starting to think that our lives revolve around Kiana's medical appointments. In the last two months we've seen pediatricines, pedatric neurologist, and pediatric opthamologist, none of which are less than about 45 mins away. We still need to make her an appointment with developmental pediatrics and get her scheduled for her MRI. Kiana's Pediatrician also wanted her to get her blood drawn to check her sugar levels and some other things that i can't remember at the moment. Other than all the doctor appointments. She is doing great.

chewbaca

Kiana is constently chewing on everything and anything . She's four years old now and she still mouths everything. She's such a chewer that she has chewed the tips off of about 30 pacifiers at this point, so now i've gotten her some teeting rings that seem to be holding up to her so far. Kiana loves school and riding the bus. she still has her extream temper and would rather play by herself or be with mommy all day.
